Reading Mahotsav 2021-22

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss

Reading is one of the most essential skills a child needs to learn to succeed in life. Building up a good reading habit is vital for the child's future not only academically, but in everyday life as well.

In order to inculcate reading habits in the MPSiets, Meerut Public School, Ved Vyas Puri had organised Reading Mahotsava 2021-22.

Teachers played the role of facilitator in this activity. There were also class discussions conducted wherein students talked about the books that they are reading, highlighting characters and events that they particularly liked and students got the opportunity to share their valuable inputs. The style, ease of language, attitude of writers and book reviews were also discussed.

For the students of the senior wing, an online Author Talk Session for young readers of Middle and Senior Wing with Mr. Rabjot Singh Isher, a renowned author.

Mr. Isher shared with students his life as a teenager, his career path and life as an author. Through the engaging discussion sessions, participants enhanced their critical thinking skills, self-esteem and ability to express themselves. During the session, the Parents and the Grandparents were invited to enchant young pupils with the art of storytelling.

On the culmination day, the students were apprised about Book Review, after this they drafted their own Book Reviews. A book review's purpose is to help people decide whether or not the book would interest them enough to read it. Reviews are a sneak peek at a book, not a summary. Like wonderful smells wafting from a kitchen, book reviews lure readers to want to taste the book themselves.

During the Reading Mahotsava 2021-22, it was noticed that most children love to read books.
