  • A Visit to Mushroom Plantation Site and Herb Garden

"Medicine plants heal more than the physical body. They help open our hearts, reconnect us with Spirit, and guide us in developing respectful and joyful relationships with the natural world."

To make students recognize what wonders mother Earth can do, MPS Pallavpuram planned a visit to Mushroom Plantation Site and Herb Garden on 5 May '22.

Mr Rahul Adarsh, the owner of the herb garden and mushroom plantation site, interacted with the students and shared his experience in managing the garden.

With the visit, the teachers and students were highly motivated and encouraged to maintain and manage a herbal garden developed in the school compound. The interaction of the students felt lively as there was two way learning between students as well as on various herbs and use of those herbal plants. They were also demonstrated with the complete process of growing mushrooms from making bags to storing in a dark room till fruiting. A small surprise in the garden visit was made when the students were served with the yellow cherry tomatoes grown in the herbal garden.

The students felt this visit as a reward to them for their dedication and commitment towards managing herbal garden and mushroom plantation in school as many of the herbs were really rare like, mint basil, clove basil and some commonly used like thime, celery, oregano etc.

Madam Principal, Mrs Chitra Sharma, really appreciated and admired the energy, initiation and enthusiasm that students had towards managing Herbal Garden and Mushroom Plantation in school. She promised to replicate the program in the school during Summer Camp.

Sharing the glimpse of the same.
