Grand Inauguration of Synthetic Basketball Courts at Meerut Public School - A Strong Step Towards Holistic Development of Students

On 25 March 2026, the grand inauguration ceremony of three newly constructed synthetic basketball courts was held with great enthusiasm, dignity, and joy at Meerut Public School, Main Wing and Meerut Public School for Girls, West End Road. The occasion marked a significant milestone and a moment of immense pride for the entire school fraternity.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Seema Sharma (Vice President, Basketball Federation of India and Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association). The event was further honoured by the gracious presence of Mrs. Kusum Shastri (Co-founder & Vice Chairperson, MPS Group), Mr. Vikramjeet Singh Shastri (Managing Director, MPS Group), respected members of the Governing Body, Mrs. Ameena and Ms. Anamta, Mrs. Rachna Sharma (Principal, MPSFG), Mrs. Dimple Singh (Examination Coordinator, MPS Group), Mr. Mirza S. Baig (Joint Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association & Secretary, Meerut Basketball Association), Mr. Amarjeet Singh (International Basketball Coach), and Mr. Harinder Singh (National Basketball Coach). Their esteemed presence added immense prestige to the occasion.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome of the distinguished guests. The Chief Guest was felicitated with a shawl and presented with a sapling, symbolising growth and sustainability.

In a commendable initiative, the basketball courts at both campuses were dedicated in the names of distinguished personalities from the field of sports, creating a lasting legacy of inspiration for students.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Alka Srivastava Gaur highlighted the institution’s achievements and future vision. She emphasised that these courts are not merely sports facilities but platforms for the holistic development of students, fostering discipline, confidence, leadership, and team spirit. She reiterated the school’s commitment to giving equal importance to sports and co-curricular activities alongside academics.

Following the inauguration, two friendly basketball matches were organised, filling the atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm. The first match was played between Meerut Public School Boys and Meerut Boys, while the second match featured Meerut Public School for Girls and Meerut Girls. In both matches, players displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit.

The Chief Guest also shared her inspiring thoughts, encouraging students to actively participate in sports and strive for excellence in their future endeavours. In his address, Managing Director Mr. Vikramjeet Singh Shastri emphasised that sports are not only essential for physical development but also for nurturing discipline, leadership, and character, shaping responsible citizens of the nation.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem. The event stood as a symbol of inspiration, enthusiasm, and renewed energy, marking a memorable chapter in the institution’s journey and guiding students forward To Greater Heights.
