5th Dr. D. P. Singh Memorial Inter-School English Debate

The 5th Dr. D. P. Singh Memorial Inter-School English Debate was held with great grandeur on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Junior Wing Courtyard and Convention Hall of Meerut Public School Main Wing. The event, renowned for its high standard of discourse, commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing enlightenment and knowledge.

The occasion was graced by an esteemed panel of dignitaries and jury members, including Mrs. Renu Bhatnagar from Sophia Girls' School, Dr. Seema Sharma, Clinical Psychologist, Smt. Poonam Sharma from St. Thomas School, and Dr. Poonam Devdutt, Senior Psychologist. Their presence lent the event a distinguished air, while the school band's performance captivated the audience with a spellbinding musical interlude.

The debate saw participation from twenty-five schools across two categories: Classes IX-X and XI-XII. The debaters engaged in profound discussions on topics that challenge contemporary thought: "The Development of Super Intelligent AI is an Existential Threat to Humanity" for the junior category and "Genetic Engineering: The Monumental Breakthrough in Human Intelligence" for the senior category. The level of articulation, critical thinking, and confidence exhibited by the students was truly commendable.

- *Best Speakers:* Archie Sharma (KL International School) & Dhairya Chahal (KL International School)

- *Consolation Prizes:* Satyakam School and Dayawati Modi Academy

The event was further honored by the presence of Smt. Kusum Shastri, Co-Founder and Vice President of Meerut Public School, alongside Managing Directors Mr. Vikramjeet Singh Shastri and Mrs. Ketki Singh Shastri. Dr. Alka Srivastava Gaur, School Principal expressed her gratitude to all the participating schools and guests, extending heartfelt congratulations to the winners and all contributors to the event's success.

This debate was not only a testament to the students' intellectual prowess but also a celebration of eloquence, reasoning, and the spirit of academic competition. The day concluded with a sense of accomplishment and pride in the young talents who showcased their exceptional debating skills.
