The Scent of Fragrance Activity

"The focus on children's sense of smell opens up new ways of understanding and supporting children's learning and development." - Natalia Kucirkova

THE FIRST STEP, MPGS organised THE SCENT OF FRAGRANCE ACTIVITY.

The motive of organising the activity was to make children aware about how different smells can open up magical worlds by connecting our memories and emotions. Teachers used a few edible items that have a strong aroma like a lemon slice, coffee grounds, black pepper, onions, coriander, and cinnamon in different jars. The teachers also displayed these jars in front of the children and watched them as they had fun sensing the different smells. The children were asked to identify the smell and recall their favourite memory related to it. The activity had a great impact by stimulating children's sense of smell and also enhanced their understanding for nature and its beauty.
