Assessment


FOUNDATIONAL STAGE

 Classes- Balvatika-II

Assessment at the Foundational Stage is not to provide any grade and score on a child’s performance but to understand a child’s progress in various learning outcomes and competencies.

1. Formative Assessments will be conducted throughout the year. Odd weeks focus on Scholastic Areas, while even weeks cover Co-scholastic Areas.

2. No marks, only assessments and observations captured quantifiably and qualitatively in Holistic Progress Card (HPC).

3. Worksheets shall have marks and other observations annotated.

4. Assessments are integrated into the child’s learning experience to avoid adding any burden.

5. Utilizes diverse assessment methods to measure Learning Outcomes and Competencies.

6. Teachers create and implement multiple types of assessments for the same Learning Outcome.

7. Key assessment methods:

  • Observations of the child.
  • Analysis of artefacts produced by the child as part of their learning journey.

8. Assessment results are recorded and documented through:

  • Google Classroom.
  • Google Sheets.
  • Hard copies.

9. No Summative Assessments.

 

PREPARATORY STAGE

 Classes- III-V

The assessment process for the Preparatory Stage is observation and formal written examination in the form of Formative and Summative assessments. Assessment act as an instructional tool and help to provide a comprehensive account of student learning.

  1. Formative Assessments (FA) will be conducted throughout the year. Odd weeks will be for the assessment of Scholastic Areas and Even weeks will be for the Co-scholastic Areas.
  2. All FA marks shall be aggregated and in the end 50% shall count towards the  Term II SA.
  3. One Summative Assessment (SA) will be conducted at the end of the session to evaluate the student's readiness to enter the Middle Stage.
  • SA has 50% weightage and the balance FAs (in year) have 50% weightage.
  1. Open Door Assessment for Mathematics and Science will help the teachers to evaluate students as per their competencies.
  2. Assessments are designed to enhance learning without adding stress.
  3. Students gain awareness of the Competencies they need to achieve, with teacher guidance.
  4. A variety of assessment methods including Peer and Self-assessments will be introduced to help students monitor the trajectory of their own learning.
  5. Progress is documented systematically and descriptively using:
  • Google Classroom.
  •  Google Sheets.
  •  Hard copies.

MIDDLE STAGE

Classes VI-VII

  1. Formative Assessments will be conducted throughout the year. Odd weeks will be for the assessment of Scholastic Areas and Even weeks will be for the Co-scholastic Areas.
  • Term I SA -25% weightage from 16 FAs conducted up to Term 1 SA and 25% from Term 1 SA Examination.  
  • Term II SA -25% weightage from 16 FAs conducted after Term I SA and up to Term II SA and 25% from Term 2 SA Examination.   
  • Final weightage- Term I = 50% and Term II = 50% equals to 100%
  1. Two Summative Assessments will be conducted in the session-
  • SA Term I will be conducted in September / October.
  • SA Term II will be conducted in February / March.
  1. Assessments are Competency-based, encompassing all learning dimensions.
  2. Regular assessments comprising Multiple- Choice Questions (MCQs) and constructed responses (e.g., short answer, long answer), to test conceptual understanding and higher-order capacities rather than merely rote learning, will be used to track student progress.
  3. Diverse classroom assessment techniques include:
  • Projects.
  •  Debates.
  •  Presentations.
  •  Experiments.
  •  Investigations.
  •  Role plays.
  •  Journals.
  •  Portfolios.
  1. Comprehensive progress documentation is maintained using:
  •  Google Classroom.
  •  Google Sheets.
  •  Hard copies.
