Celebrating Excellence: Basketball Golden Hat-Trick and CBSE Board Achievers Felicitated

Cementing its absolute dominance in the sports arena, the basketball team of Meerut Public Girls School, Shastri Nagar, has scripted an unforgettable chapter of history at the CBSE Cluster. The Under-19 Basketball Team clinched the Gold Medal at the CBSE Cluster Basketball Tournament for the third consecutive year, completing an impressive golden hat-trick. The tournament, held at D.A.V. Sahibabad from 5 to 9 August 2026, witnessed the participation of 94 teams in the Under-19 category.

Led by Captain Anshika Sharma, the team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. MPGS defeated St. Fidelis School, Aligarh (34–07) in the round match, Nehru World School (28–00) in the pre-quarterfinal, Samsara The World School (11–02) in the quarterfinal, and The Doon’s Bridge School (16–03) in the semifinal. In the final, the team registered a 51–36 victory over D.P.S. Noida to secure the championship title.

The occasion also celebrated the school's CBSE Board achievers, including Irmish Ansari, who secured AIR 3 in the CBSE Class XII Board Examinations, along with other high-performing students of Classes X and XII.

The felicitation ceremony began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to the Founder, Late Shri Tarachand Shastri Ji. Mrs. Kusum Shastri, President and Co-Founder, MPS Group; Col. Gyan Singh Tomar, Director – Academics and Systems, MPS Group; and Lt. Col. Pramod Singh Atri, Head Administrator, MPS Group, were welcomed by Principal Mrs. Sapna Ahuja with saplings.

The champion basketball team received a celebratory welcome on its return to the campus. The players, CBSE Board achievers, and their subject teachers were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and cheques in recognition of their accomplishments.

Addressing the jubilant gathering, Col. Gyan Singh Tomar credited the students' phenomenal success to their unyielding dedication, discipline, and laser-sharp focus, while warmly acknowledging the invaluable support of their teachers and parents. In her concluding remarks, Principal Mrs. Sapna Ahuja praised the achievers, emphasizing that their historic feats serve as an inspiring benchmark for the entire student body, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for making the day truly special.
