The curtain came down on the CBSE Basketball Cluster XIX 2018-19 (Under 17 & Under 19 Boys & Girls Category) with a spectacular closing ceremony at Meerut Public School, Main Wing on Friday, 5th October 2018. After five days of competition, the accomplishments of the athletes involved in the Games were celebrated at the spectacle. Since its inception the eyes of the city had been on this Mega-event. The Tournament had drawn together thousands of competitors and fans, with records tumbling on a daily basis to grab the coveted winning trophy and emerge as the triumphant Champions.
The event commenced with the soothing recitation of a melodious song by the School Choir, followed by a number of amazing performances by the students of the Primary Wing.
Brig. HKS Bath,SM, 22 Artillery Brigade graced the occasion with his presence as the distinguished Chief Guest. The event was brightened up by the presence of eminent Guests of Honour, Cardiologist Dr. Anil Mehta and Mrs. Renu Mehta. The Guests interacted with the participants and wished them good luck. The final match was played between the U-19 Boys teams of Meerut Public School, Main Wing and Army Public School, Meerut amidst thunderous cheer and applause of the spectators. In the end, it was Meerut Public School, Main Wing which clinched the title and defeated their opponents with a score tally of 83-44.
The dignitaries presented the trophies, medals and certificates to the Winners and Runners-up of the CBSE Basketball Cluster XIX 2018-19. When it was their time to shine, the team members of the host School made quite an entrance amidst loud exhilaration and ovation, much to the delight of the crowd.
In his speech the Chief Guest Brig. HKS Bath lauded the performance of the participants and urged them to keep themselves fit and never let their dreams die. He also commended the efforts put-in by the School Management in organising the event successfully. The Opening Ceremony, followed by the matches and the Closing Ceremony was worth positive approbation. The Basketball Cluster culminated with a promise to abide by the true sportsman spirit, to win in style, lose with dignity, come what may, keep up the ethos.
