India observes Republic Day on January 26, every year. Republic Day marks an important event in India’s history. It commemorates the enactment of the constitution of India which came into effect on January 26, 1950, and made the nation into a republic. Republic Day, this year holds utmost importance as the festival of spring-Basant Panchami falls on this very day.
Meerut Public School, The First Step celebrated 74th Republic Day and Basant Panchami with immense fervour and zeal. The entire school courtyard was resplendent in the shades of tricolour. The day started with unfurling of National Flag, singing of National Anthem followed by the auspicious ceremony of 'Saraswarti Puja' wherein The Principal along with Co-ordinators and the students council invoked the divine blessings. A plethora of activities were organised to infuse the spirit of unity, brotherhood and patriotism among the students.
The celebrations continued with a patriotic poem recitation, melodious song, speech and blindfold dance depicting the joy of freedom and the unity in diversity.
Respected Madam Principal, Ms Sonu Sahni extended heartiest greetings and enlightened all to inculcate the spirit of being Indian, to instill the values of integrity, liberty and equality.
Let us not forget the rich heritage of our country and feel proud to be a part of this nation.
