Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement initiated by our government to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. The prime objective of this initiative is to bring about a behavioural change in school children from spending "Passive Screen Time" to "Active Field Time".

The Covid-19 pandemic has left all of us experiencing emotions, thoughts and situations we had never experienced before. It has made us think beyond conventional strategies to combat the unprecedented mental health challenge that many people suffer from. We, at MPS, Main Wing truly believe that a healthy mind is as vital as a healthy body. Hence, a presentation on "restrengthening the mind post-pandemic" for mental fitness was shared with the students by the School Counsellor, Ms. Debasmita Bannerjee. She emphasized on how to handle the situation constructively by being calm, being busy with hobbies and interests and connecting with others through telephone or digital means. The students participated in the activity with great enthusiasm and found the entire session quite fruitful.
The COVID-19 pandemic is causing a lot of changes in the daily lives of people around the world. However, there are things that can be done to maintain a healthy lifestyle in these difficult times. We all know that good nutrition is very important for one and all and maintaining a healthy diet is an important part of supporting a strong immune system.
We at MPS, Main Wing believe that food habits are formed early in life and difficult to change thereafter. Young people are agents of change and have the potential to influence entire families on what, when and how to eat. Hence a talk on "diet and nutrition during pandemic" was delivered to students where they were apprised about the importance of eating healthy. A poster making competition was also organised for the students on the theme "New India, Fit India". The aim is to tap the creative talent of students and enable them to inculcate healthy habits, starting young. The students displayed their creative flair by making beautiful drawings and paintings on the given topic. In totality, the event was a great success.
An Online Quiz on Fitness and Wellness was conducted on the fourth day of the Fit India Week being celebrated at MPS, Main Wing. The Quiz was held amongst four teams comprising two members each. Questions on fitness, health, indigenous games and nutrition were asked from the participants. The overall objective of this quiz was to encourage children to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Priya and Vishakha from XI-E bagged the first position, while Millie and Arun from XI-A were place second. E- certificates were awarded to the winners for their commendable performance.
The 5th day of Fit India Week was packed with various activities. With the mantra, "Fitness ka doz, aadha ghanta roz" students of MPS Main Wing displayed active participation in activities like Squats Challenge, Step-up Challenge, Spot Jogging, Rope Skipping and Ball Dribbling, etc. The zest and fervour portrayed by students show that they found all these activities quite entertaining. "Work out with your kids. They're not excuses, they're sponges. Lead by example"
The Management of Meerut Public School, Group reiterates the imperative need to inculcate healthy eating habits and adopting a healthy lifestyle in order to be energetic, mentally agile and alert. This will ensure overall health and fitness in the students. Day 6 of the Fit India Week was aimed to promote physical fitness and family enjoyment. It was dedicated to family fitness activities involving students and parents at home. Students along with their parents indulged themselves in various activities like aerobics, yoga, dance, Pilates, hip hop, family circuit, etc. They found the exercise regime quite enriching and shared their videos and photos performing these activities.
